Just turn up . The house is down a short drive at the bottom of Horsecombe Brow

A 1950s cavity walled detached bungalow which is a style of house that is generally very poor in terms of energy efficiency. The house has had cavity wall insulation with carbon beads throughout and a new well insulated two story extension. The south facing roof has solar thermal panels which provide heat for hot water and radiators, topped up by a condensing gas boiler. There are also 4kWp of photovoltaic panels providing electricity.

The home owner is a fantastic source of lifestyle tips for greener living. See how she homebrews beer and cider, and makes chutney and jam from her 10 small fruit trees and bushes (quinces, plums, cherries, apples, damsons and pears). There are 8 water butts for watering the garden and car washing. She also has tips on how to reuse and recycle all plastics, and best places to get appliances and shoes repaired.
